For many people, local food & drink is now becoming their bread and butter, quite literally. Local bakeries are inundated with orders of all baked goods, local butchers are ordering more; more lambs, more limbs, cheesemakers are becoming direct shops for the first time in their long histories, and restaurant suppliers are adapting to home deliveries. Read the following, where British artisans, makers and suppliers are now delivering their edible delights straight to your door.

TIDE by Halen Môn

Right on the shores of Anglesey, Tide is Halen Môn's cafe run by the talented chef, Sam Lomas. In a time when all non-essential shops and retailers are closed, Tide is now offering orders for collection and local deliveries to the South of Anglesey. "We are doing boxes of fresh, carefully-made Tide staples, as well as Halen Môn store cupboard essentials." You can order Tide's usual delightful delicacies, from Chocolate & Sea Salt Cookies and Toasted Sesame & Sea Salt Flapjack, to essentials like bread, coffee, organic veg and salad.

Collection orders should be in by 15:00 the day before for collection the next day between 13:00 and 17:00. Collect from the beach hut at the end of the drive at Halen Môn. Local Deliveries are on Thursdays, where they offer delivery to South Anglesey e.g. Newborough, Llangefni, Menai Bridge and Llanfair PG for a delivery charge of £1.50.

There are a few ways to purchase British farmhouse cheeses; many cheesemakers are doing sales direct from their farms or creameries, the cheesemongers Neal's Yard Dairy are currently selling the cheeses via Cheese Boxes, their new 'Dairy Box' or selling through Natoora alongside other artisan essentials. The way to order cheese from Neal's Yard Dairy is to visit their website (, and go through the links. The 'Dairy Box' is a winner; included in it was a handmade butter, a large sourdough loaf, organic eggs, milk, yogurt, and selected cheeses - I received Lincolnshire Poacher & Colston Bassett Stilton.

Photograph by Natoora

In a matter of three days, Natoora have been able to turn their industry-only app to sell direct to the public, which means that for the first time in their history, they are doing home deliveries of their expertly selected array of fresh produce, dry goods, dairy and charcuterie that would normally be bought by chefs and restaurants. By doing this, they will support both the consumers at home and Natoora’s network of independent growers and producers, whose livelihoods are at risk.

"Starting in Zones 1-4 in London, the company hopes to be able to extend the service as demand grows. Natoora have linked up with a few independent suppliers in London to provide a complete range of produce, wine from Ancestrel Wines, cheese from Neal’s Yard Dairy, beer from Kernel Brewery and bread from Little Bread Pedlar."

For those unable to make a home delivery, Natoora’s produce can also be found in a number of restaurants turned shops throughout London; Wild By Tart, Petersham Nurseries, Camberwell Arms, Townsend Restaurant, Ombra, Top Cuvee and The Coal Office in association with Tom Dixon.

For those looking to register for the app, please share the link and access will be given in the next few days:

Padstow Kitchen Garden grows a wonderful variety of vegetables for some of the country's top restaurants. It has been run by the Geach family for over 150 years, and is now headed by Ross Geach. Ross is now adapting in the current climate to delivering his seasonal produce in boxes to the local community. "We run a local veg box delivery scheme, delivering every Thursday and Friday. We have a strict policy of only using our own produce, which is grown using traditional methods and is also spray free. Due to COVID-19, we have set up our veg boxes early and have temporarily changed our policy and buying veg that is grown by other local producers and farmers - to help support these growers who would usually sell to restaurants during the closure of the hospitality industry, and also help to get fresh produce to those isolating or who can't get it from supermarkets due to panic buying. The April veg box contains the following or similar for £18: Cauliflower, potatoes, purple sprouting broccoli, swede, carrots, spring greens, red cabbage, fennel, mixed salad, beetroot and onions."

You can order via the Padstow Kitchen Garden website under the 'Farm Shop' tab -

The rural restaurant has sadly had to cancel it's upcoming supper dates, however, you can get more information on delivery boxes and vouchers here:
